[prMac.com] Surprise, Arizona - Torello Group, LLC has announced the beta launch of YappGuru.com, an app review site created by speech therapists. A unique twist to the traditional community-sourced ratings, Yapp Guru qualifies reviewers as an expert "Savvy Guru" based on a specified level of experience with apps, and links their site reviews directly to their expert's detailed personal blog reviews. Industry keywords for speech/occupational therapy and education find reviews for Kindle, Nook, Android and Apple devices.
The new site, dedicated to the creation and maintenance of an innovative software application resource for speech- language pathologists, occupational therapists, educators, technology experts and parents, is available for a Beta period starting today by invitation only.
"We realized the app store reviews were limited in providing relevant information to us as therapists and teachers," said Mai Ling Chan, CEO of Torello Group. "We created YappGuru.com to provide a community where apps, app developers, therapists, teachers, parents, tech experts and bloggers can all come together and share how they are using apps to help others experience a richer life."
The new site is an online resource center providing app reviews by therapy and education industry app experts across all tablet and phone operating systems. In addition to the traditional community-sourced app rating, Yapp Guru identifies and qualifies reviewers as an app expert "Savvy Guru" based on a specified level of proven dedication and experience with apps, which provides a higher level of expertise and credibility to their review.
Savvy Gurus have access to a proprietary app review format targeting extensive industry-specific details such as fine vs. gross motor access, AAC specific attributes including image and voice options, clinical support such as data collection and results recording, technical details, and the most valuable, use recommendations.
Yapp Guru also introduces their signature search system, which finds corresponding blog posts written by their participating Savvy Gurus, to provide additional information on how a specific app is being used within a therapeutic or educational setting.
"Yapp Guru is a place where people can go to find apps which have been used for a specific therapy or educational purpose," Chan said. "We are focused on creating a community that helps people find and use apps easily; YappGuru.com is the first development in that process."
As members of Yapp Guru, for example, therapists can find apps for aphasia, dysphagia and articulation, teachers can find apps for math, reading and science, and parents can find apps to support therapy or educational goals. Additionally, app developers can respond to comments, and tech experts and bloggers can share their extensive knowledge of app use in real world applications.
"Using our signature Keyword Guru, our members can quickly identify and access additional app use info via industry expert blogs," said Chan. "With thousands of new apps available daily, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to discern which apps to buy. Additionally, because these are relatively new therapy and education tools, expert guidance and use examples are sought after and embraced. By bringing together app reviews and blogs in one place, we offer a powerful tool to rapidly grow your knowledge and understanding of apps for therapy and education. That's the Yapp Guru advantage."
